The Vascular Surgery Unit provides excellent, state-of-the-art service to a wide number of peripheral vascular disease patients. We perform all types of simple and complicated for vascular access surgeries for renal failure patients on hemodialysis. We manage patients with diabetic foot and its complications. We provide specialized care to varicose veins patients including surgery, sclerotherapy and laser in collaboration with interventional radiology. We also treat patients with abdominal aortic aneurysm and those who require complicated aortic and distal bypasses for lower limb ischemia. We treat patients with carotid artery disease, and those with thoracic outlet syndrome including cervical ribs. We also perform thoracoscopic surgery to patients with axillary and palmar hyperhydrosis. The service also provides supportive management for patients with lymphedema. In the near future, we are planning to provide endovascular treatment for selected patients with thoracic and aortic dissection.
The unit has two (2) clinics and one (1) full day OR session per week, and staffed by one (1) Senior Consultant and one (1) Assistant Consultant in addition to a rotating Surgical Resident. The unit also has the backing of a competent radiological imaging and interventional radiology service for both venous and arterial cases. In the near future, we are planning to provide endovascular treatment for selected patients with thoraco-abdominal aortic dissection and aneurismal disease.
The unit is supported by a competent non-invasive and interventional radiology service in addition to a fully equipped operating theater with intra-operative imaging and head-mounted operating microscope (Varioscope®). In the near future, we are planning to provide endovascular treatment for selected patients with thoraco-abdominal aortic disease.
