The King Faisal Specialsit Hosptial & Research Centre-Riyadh will be offering a general pediatric course to registered nurses who have no pediatric experience, but who are interested in working in pediatrics.
This course is designed to give you an introduction to Pediatric Nursing. The content is presented throughout 6 weeks and will begin in February 2010. The overall theoretical hours of the course are 45hrs. The clinical hours total 100 hours with a further 8 hours of skills lab.
This general pediatric course will also be a stepping stone for those nurses wishing to progress into pediatric oncology.

In the Middle East the KFSH&RC has been a pioneer in kidney and bone marrow transplantation, oncology, IVF, and orthopedic and cardiovascular surgery. The hospital performs over 2,000 open-hearts and 6,500 cardiac catheterizations per year. The majority of pediatric patients are of high acuity, many having complex congenital anomalies. The high incidence of genetic diseases in the Middle East will expose you to a variety of illness you may never see in North America.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree, or Associate’s degree, or diploma in Nursing in Nursing, and
- Current nursing license in Canada or the United States, and
- A minimum of two years current, full-time experience as a Registered Nurse working in a mid-to-large-sized acute-care hospital in North America.
