The Labour & Delivery Unit at the King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia receives patients at 20 weeks gestation and above, IVF patients, and high risk patients. Approximately 65% of patients are considered high risk, e.g. patients with chronic pulmonary disease, chronic liver disease, diabetes mellitus, severe cardiac disease, recurrent abortions, and previous preterm deliveries.
The Labour & Delivery Unit averages 115 deliveries per month. It is in the process of expanding its services from its current size of:
- 5 labour & delivery rooms
- 1 surgical suite
- 1 recovery room
- 1 perinatal laboratory
Nurse to patient ratio:
1 : 1 or 2
Shifts are 12-hours in length and follow the American rotation. Overtime is available.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or Associate’s degree or Diploma in Nursing, and
- Current nursing license in Canada or the United States, and
- A minimum of two years current experience as a Registered Nurse, of which at least one must be in the specialty area, working in a mid- to large-sized acute-care hospital in North America.
- Experience with high-risk mothers is required.
