The Medical Oncology Unit – which is part of the Cancer Center (KFCC) at the King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – treats patients with lymphomas, breast cancer, gastrointestinal cancer, genito-urinary cancer, soft-tissue and bone sarcoma, and head and neck cancer. It has 32 inpatient beds (four are designated for peripheral blood stem cell transplant patients who are receiving high dose chemotherapy), and sees adult and geriatric patients. Nurses in the unit function within a total care nursing system.
Nurse to patient ratio:
1 : 4 during day shifts
1 : 5 or 6 during night shifts
Shifts are 12-hours in length and follow the American rotation. Overtime is available.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or Associate’s degree or Diploma in Nursing, and
- Current nursing (RN) license in Canada or the United States, and
- A minimum of two years recent, full-time experience as a Registered Nurse working in a mid- to large-sized acute-care hospital in North America, of which at least one year of current experience must be in oncology.
