The King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia is the primary tertiary-care referral hospital for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The hospital receives general surgical patients with high levels of acuity in the following units:

• Orthopedics, Plastic Surgery, and Chronic Pain Service Unit (34 beds): provides care to adult and pediatric patients with malignant and/or congenitally related diseases
• General Surgery Unit (34 beds): provides care to adult general surgery patients (including surgical oncology, colorectal, endocrine, upper GI, minimally invasive, hepatobiliary, and trauma patients)
• Otolaryngology/Ophthalmology/Maxillo-Facial Unit (24 beds): provides care to primarily adult patients, and the occasional hemodynamically stable pediatric patient, with malignant and/or congenitally related diseases
• Gynecology/Oncology Unit (17 beds): provides care to female patients receiving treatment in surgical oncology, radiation medicine, gynecology, and gyn-oncology

There is also a 38-bed combined Medical/Surgical VIP Unit, which provides acute and long-term care to members of the royal family, high-ranking government officials, and foreign dignitaries.

Surgical nurses function within a total care nursing system. The majority of patients will have a family member with them 24/7 during their hospital stay.

Shifts are 12-hours in length and follow the American rotation. Overtime is available.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree or Associate’s degree or Diploma in Nursing, and
• Current nursing license in Canada or the United States, and
• A minimum of two years current experience as a Registered Nurse, of which at least one must be in the specialty area, working in a mid- to large-sized acute-care hospital in North America.
