Rashid Hospital Trauma Centre

The population of Dubai is expected to reach 1.4 million by 2010. The city has a very large number of car accidents.

The Rashid Hospital Trauma Center (RHTC) is located within the Rashid Hospital, a facility that is part of the Dubai Government's Department of Health and Medical Services.

The Rashid Hospital has 600 beds and provides tertiary-level care services. RHTC, completed in mid-2006, is the busiest Emergency Department in the region, and ranks as one of the largest trauma centers worldwide. The majority of the trauma cases are road traffic accidents and industrial accidents. It sees chiefly adult, but also pediatric patients.

RHTC has a trauma OR, a trauma ICU with eight beds, a 10-bed Recovery Room, and two surgical trauma wards which together have 45 beds.

InterHealth Canada, a private company, was contracted to commission the hospital and to manage it.
