Carnegie Mellon University is one of several American
universities which was invited by the Qatar Foundation to
open a site in the Education City complex in Doha. The
university offers several programs, aimed to prepare a
student for a bright career in Qatar or abroad.
What are the programs offered?
There are four undergraduate programs: Biological Sciences,
Business Administration, Computer Science, and Information
Systems. In addition, students of Carnegie Mellon Qatar are
able to participate in a 'cross-registration program,' which
allows them to take courses at other universities within

Are the programs the same length as in North America?
The programs take four years to complete.
Where are the students from?
The students who attend Carnegie Mellon Qatar come from all
parts of the globe.

Will my diploma read "Carnegie Mellon University" or "Carnegie Mellon Qatar"?
All degrees given to students at the Qatar campus come from
the home campus in Pittsburg, PA. The degree or diploma
reads "Carnegie Mellon University," not "Carnegie Mellon
Qatar." In fact, there is no mention of Qatar anywhere on
the diploma or the degree, and the diplomas are made in and
shipped from the United States.
When each year does each program start?
The academic year at Carnegie Mellon Qatar is modeled after
the North American academic calendar (September-December,
January-February).
What is the cost of tuition for one academic year?
The cost of tuition for one academic year is US$43,160.
Is there financial aid for international students?
International students may apply to the Qatar Foundation for
loans, which can cover anything from 5% to 100% of tuition
(including international student costs). Loans must be paid
back when the student graduates. Carnegie Mellon University
offers 5-10 academic merit scholarships that cover 50% of
tuition.
Is there health insurance for international students?
All residents of Qatar are provided with national health
coverage by the State. International students who have
received their Residence Permit are eligible to obtain a
National Health Card and receive free medical care.
